Overview
A small, orderly country in the north of the European Union
Lithuania is one of the Baltic states and a member of the European Union and the Schengen area. Its population is roughly the size of a large Turkish district, so everything is more compact: small cities, short distances, few institutions.
For a student that has practical consequences. Bureaucracy is concentrated in a handful of institutions, transport is simple, and campuses sit inside the city. On the other hand, someone used to the pace of a large Turkish city may find life quiet; winter days are short and cold. It's better to know that before you come.

IT and engineering
Software, data, electronics and mechanical engineering are strong, and the density of tech and fintech companies helps on the internship side.
Business and economics
English-taught business, finance and economics programmes are widely available, with notably international cohorts.
Law and public governance
Programmes focused on EU law and international relations. Practising law in Türkiye afterwards is a separate question of recognition.
Social sciences and psychology
English-taught options in psychology, communication and the social sciences.
Maritime studies
Concentrated in Klaipėda because of the port, covering maritime engineering and marine science.
Cities
Where you'd study and how you'd live
- VNOVilnius
The capital and the largest student centre, with the widest choice of universities and the most work and internship opportunities. The old town is walkable.
- KUNKaunas
The second city and a serious university town, weighted towards technical and health fields. Living costs are usually below the capital.
- KLJKlaipėda
The port city on the Baltic coast. Maritime and marine sciences are here; the city is smaller and quieter.
